Advancing Patient Access to Transoral Surgery for The Treatment of GERD Through Educational, Payer and Governmental Advocacy
Surgeons for TIF Coalition is a non-profit association of member gastrointestinal and endoscopic surgeons, surgical institutions, and allied health professionals actively working to:
- Advance the education of surgeons, patients, insurers and public policy makers about TIF and natural orifice surgery.
- Provide guidance on the standard of care for TIF.
- Work with policy makers to establish the standards for outcome measurements of TIF procedures.
Read SAGES' position statement on its support of endolumenal therapy for GERD, published in the Winter 2009 edition of Scope and online.
SAGES states that endolumenal therapy has "the potential to treat many common gastrointestinal conditions as effectively as more traditional invasive procedures." In discussing the benefits for GERD sufferers, SAGES states that it “may well represent the procedure of choice for selected patients with GERD in the future.”
